Colonial Videos
Parents,
Below are three of the classes videos that were created by the students in front of the green screen. The groups then sat down with me and we edited the videos by adding still pictures behind them. There task was to create a commerical or advertisement to convince people to settle in their region. Hope you enjoy the treat below.
If you don't see your child's video, they are still a work in progress.

Parents,
Thank you for your continued support throughout the school year. The kids have been doing really well and I’m proud of their efforts. They continue to grow and learn each day. I’m extremely proud on how well they have worked together in small group activities. Students respect each other’s ideas, work together to get the task finished, and have fun while learning using technology.
I appreciate all your gifts on my birthday. I’m still eating my Peanut M&M’s, which I have thoroughly enjoyed on those long school days. Finally, I would like to send out a special thank you to Mrs. Murray for organizing the estimation station with the parent volunteers and the class’s party for having the highest sales with the PTA Innesbrook fundraiser.

Place Value Rap
The students had a great first week in the classroom. Here is a project put together by a group of ladies using technology to remember place values.

Welcome to the Academic Army!
Welcome to the Academic Army! I’m excited to have you in the room for your first year in the Dolvin Academy. The motto of our classroom is B.O.O.T.C.A.M.P. (Bettering Ourselves and Others Through Continuous Academic and Moral Progression). It is important that we create a sense of community in our classroom. We all need to work together, teacher, parents, and students, to see that everyone succeeds and works to their best potential.
Throughout the 2011-2012 school year, I will expect students to try and put forth their best effort in all their work. I plan to hold students accountable for their choices. As students, you all need to become responsible for the choices you make, whether it is doing your homework or talking in the hallway. My goal is to create students that are self-reliant, such as filling in their agenda, turning in work, and studying ahead of time.
I truly believe that all students can succeed if they put forth the effort. Parents, let’s work as a team to facilitate their growth and see them mature throughout the year. I look forward to getting to know all of you as the year progresses.

Technology in the Classroom
This year students in the Academic Army will be part of a new model in education. The Inspired Classroom Model originated in Irving, Texas, and was intended to move technology out of the corners and into the middle of the learning environment. The idea came from a concern that technology was being used separate from the learning process and was not supporting instruction. The basic concept is to change the physical layout of the classroom so that the student computers are part of the learning environment, and as such, are used throughout the day by students working in small, cooperative learning groups.
